In 1972, a small, family-run, mastic sealant company was started in Ilford (East London). Serving mainly as a sub-contractor to the construction industry, the company carried out various waterproofing and sealant work across London & Essex with one man (David Hurley, now M.D.) on the tools. Through several years of hard work, gaining priceless knowledge and experience, County Mastics attained an excellent reputation for high quality workmanship which increased the clientele and in turn, enabled the business to expand. The family moved to larger premises in Highams Park E4, employed more staff and increased the services to major on-going contract works, large scale new-builds and fit outs for the main contractors and local authorities.
Several years on and the company was in a good position to diversify and started a small distribution line, serving local companies with specialist waterproofing materials and mastic sealants, this proved to be very popular indeed and demand was such that a larger and more accessible base was aquired in Chingford E4 where the stock levels are greatly increased and product lines expanded taking on materials from world renowned and highly respected manufacturers such as Fosroc Expandite (now just
Fosroc)

Sika and
Adshead Ratcliffe (Arbo)
At the turn of the century, now a solid name in the distribution business as well as big guns in the mastic sealant and waterproofing application business, County Mastics was ready to split the business in two, so
County Construction Chemicals was born.
